- Description: From late October, US Galaxy users can send USDC abroad from Samsung Wallet, settled on Solana. How it works, who holds the money, and what about Europe.

**From the last week of October 2026, Samsung Wallet will let users in the United States send USDC abroad, with the transfers settled on Solana (and Sui) in the background.** The feature comes built into the wallet app on 82 million Galaxy devices: no separate crypto app, no seed phrase, and recipients in more than 60 countries can get local currency straight into a bank account.

It is one of the biggest attempts yet to make stablecoins feel like an ordinary payments feature rather than a crypto product.

## What Samsung Wallet USDC transfers will do

According to CoinDesk and the Solana Foundation's announcement, the service works like this:

- **Who:** eligible users in the US with a registered Galaxy device. Biometric authentication is required to send money.
- **What:** USDC, the dollar stablecoin issued by Circle, sent from inside Samsung Wallet, the same app people use for cards and boarding passes.
- **Where to:** compatible crypto wallets abroad, or eligible bank accounts in 60+ countries, where the recipient gets local currency.
- **Money in and out:** built-in on- and off-ramps, so users fund transfers from fiat and recipients can receive fiat.
- **Fees:** Samsung says it charges nothing for USDC transfers to compatible external wallets. Recipient wallets, exchanges and bank payouts can still have their own fees.

## Who holds the money

This is not self-custody. Per CoinDesk, Bastion provides the regulated stablecoin infrastructure and the USDC is held in Coinbase Prime Vault, with Coinbase as sub-custodian. Solana and Sui are the networks that move the tokens. For users that means convenience and a familiar app, but the keys belong to the providers, not to you.

## Why it matters

- **Remittances are the use case that makes sense.** Sending money home is slow and expensive through banks and transfer services. Stablecoins settle in seconds, around the clock.
- **Distribution beats technology.** Crypto wallets have existed for years; what was missing was being one tap away on a phone people already own. Samsung Wallet is pre-installed on tens of millions of devices.
- **The chain disappears.** Users won't need to know what Solana is. That is good for adoption and also a reminder that "using crypto" increasingly means using a custodial service built on it.

Samsung's Woncheol Chai put it simply: "Sending money abroad should feel as convenient as using the wallet already on your phone." Lily Liu of the Solana Foundation said stablecoins "have proven that blockchain is a highly efficient way to move money quickly and cheaply around the world."

## What about Europe and Lithuania?

For now the launch is US-only. Samsung has not given a timeline for other countries; expansion depends on local regulation. In the EU, stablecoins fall under MiCA, so any European version would have to fit those rules. If you are in Vilnius, you cannot use it yet.

You can, however, already pay with USDC on Solana in person: our crypto bar takes it, along with Bitcoin Lightning, USDT and GRAM on TON, and SOL. See [bar.zolak.lt](https://bar.zolak.lt/?ref=blog.zolak.lt).

## What to watch

- The actual fees on bank payouts in each destination country, which Samsung has not fully published.
- Whether users can send to their own self-custodial wallets, and how withdrawals work in practice.
- Which markets come next, and whether Europe is among them.

*Not financial advice.*
